This is probably one of the most effective and economic recipes to ward of a cold. I usually make this in January and throughout the winter months. I drink about 4 ounces of this every other day.
Ingredients:
1 medium to large organic ginger root. If organic, you can juice with the skin on. If you can’t find organic ginger, I’d advise to peel.
About 2-3 blood oranges. If you can’t locate blood oranges in your local grocer, any type of orange will do.
Method:
Place ginger in your juicer. Remove the juice extracted and place in large measuring cup with a pour spout. Juice oranges with an orange juicer. I find that with citrus fruits I get more juice from the manual juicers than the electric ones. Mix in with ginger juice and add a little bit of honey, if you like a bit of sweetness. Pour in small mason jars if you have more than one serving. Refrigerate what is left from the recommended amount. I’d advise not to juice too much at a time, because the longer this sits in the refrigerator, the more of its healing properties are released.
